The Nursery Unit was established in 1996 and is an integral part of Knocknagoney Primary School. There are 26 children on a full-time basis (9.00-1.30). While we have strong links with the main school, particularly the P1 class, the Nursery is fully self-contained. Dinners, which are taken in the Nursery unit, are provided from the primary school's own meals kitchen.

There is a bright, well equipped play room with a quiet room for reading, the childrens toilet area, a spacious cloakroom, staff room and kitchen. The modern, well equipped Nursery has been extended to include an indoor safety-surfaced area used for large equipment and vigorous play on a daily basis. In addition we have an enclosed outdoor area where children benefit from the wide range of play equipment and can enhance their physical development, explore their environment and develop their imagination.

The Nursery aims to create a secure, stimulating environment in which children can learn together and progress with confidence. Children are valued as individuals and given equal opportunities to grow emotionally, intellectually and physically.
