Admissions

Admissions Criteria for our Nursery Unit

Preference will be given to those children whose parents are from socially disadvantaged circumstances.

In the event of the Unit being over-subscribed the following criteria will be applied in the order given:

1. Knocknagoney Nursery listed as their first choice

2. Children who have brothers/sisters/half brother or sisters/ other children living permanently at the same address currently attending the Primary School

3. Children who live nearest to the school determined by a straight line measurement using the Ordnance Survey website.

 

Admissions Criteria for Primary 1

Only children of compulsory school age, (i.e. children aged 4 on or before 1 July preceding the September admission) will be admitted to the school.

In the event of the school being oversubscribed the Governors will select children for admission to Primary 1 using the admissions criteria set out below. The criteria will be applied in the order in which they are set down.

1        Children who have brothers/sisters, half-brothers/half-sisters or Looked After Children living permanently at the same address currently attending Knocknagoney Primary School (P1-P7). 

2       Children who attended the Nursery Unit in the school year 2021-22.

3    Children who live nearest the school. Distance will be determined by a straight line measurement from the front door of the child’s home to the entrance to the school.  Measurement will be generated electronically using the Ordnance Survey Measuring tool.

In the event of 2 or more children’s permanent residence being measured equal distance for the final place children will be selected by age with the oldest being selected first.
