School return arrangements for January 2021

1st Jan 2021

Dear Parent / Carer

I hope everyone has remained safe and well and that you have been able to have an enjoyable Christmas break.

The Education Minister ,Peter Weir, has made a late change to the return to school this term due to the deteriorating nature of the pandemic, the risk to public health, the pressures on our health service and the unprecedented levels of positive Covid 19 tests since Christmas.

The updated information is that-

Primary school pupils will be taught remotely until 11th January, after which they will attend for face to face teaching.

Pre-school settings including nurseries and nursery units are to be open as usual from the start of term (which for our nursery is Wednesday 6th January).

School will accommodate vulnerable children and the children of key workers from the start of term (which for our school is Wednesday 6th January), definitions of above can be found on the EA website www.eani.org.uk  Parents should contact the school to avail of this by email  info@knocknagoney.belfast.ni.sch.uk  or by telephone 02890768496 on Tuesday before 12pm.

Please note that school is supervisory only for those children who need to attend for the 3 days from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th January. Work for remote learning will be available on our home learning portal from Wednesday 6th January for all pupils.

Whilst this is not the start to the term we had hoped for, the health and safety of the whole school community is paramount.

Thank you for your co-operation as we enter another very difficult period in education in these extraordinary times.

Best wishes

Ann Burton

Principal
